Tour Details

Into the Wild: A Day of Chimpanzee or Rhino Tracking in Uganda

For those craving a close encounter with Africa’s most iconic wildlife—but short on time—this 4-hour experience offers the best of both worlds: a rich immersion in nature and the unforgettable thrill of tracking chimpanzees or rhinos in the wild.

Depending on your chosen adventure, you’ll either head to the lush Budongo Forest, where the high-pitched calls of chimpanzees echo through the canopy, or to the open savannah of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where majestic white rhinos roam freely. This tour is perfect for travelers looking to combine wildlife, conservation, and a little adrenaline into a short but impactful experience.

If you opt for chimpanzee tracking, you’ll be guided through dense forest trails by an experienced ranger. As you move deeper into the greenery, the forest comes alive with rustling leaves, hoots, and the occasional drumming on tree trunks. When you finally spot a chimpanzee community, it’s a magical moment—watching them forage, interact, and leap through the trees is like witnessing a mirror of ourselves in the wild.

If you choose rhino tracking, the journey takes you across Ziwa’s savannah plains and bush paths. Accompanied by armed rangers, you’ll walk on foot to locate rhinos grazing peacefully or resting in the shade. Getting within a safe distance of these powerful animals is a deeply humbling experience, and your guide will share the inspiring story behind their reintroduction to Uganda after years of extinction.

Whether you're passionate about primates or drawn to the Big Five, this short tour delivers a meaningful wildlife encounter that supports conservation and leaves you with stories to last a lifetime.
