1. Job Description
As a Tour Guide & Wildlife Interpreter, you’ll lead guests on thrilling safaris, educating them about the rich wildlife, ecosystems, and cultural heritage of Uganda. You’ll provide a unique, immersive experience, ensuring guests enjoy informative, safe, and exciting tours that connect them to the natural beauty of East Africa.
2. Job tasks and Responsibilities
Lead safari tours, game drives, and cultural experiences while providing insightful commentary on wildlife, ecosystems, and local culture.
Ensure guest safety during tours by following safety protocols and ensuring all equipment is in good condition.
Engage with guests by answering questions, telling stories, and creating memorable experiences through personal interactions.
Monitor wildlife and ecosystems, keeping a keen eye on animal behavior, flora, and environmental changes.
Assist with the setup of tour activities, ensuring equipment and logistics are well-prepared for the tour.
Collect guest feedback and provide reports to help improve tour experiences.
Stay updated on local wildlife, conservation efforts, and any changes to regulations affecting tours.
3. Background, Skills and Experience
In-depth knowledge of Uganda’s wildlife, ecosystems, and cultural heritage.
Experience as a safari guide or in a similar outdoor, interpretive role is highly desirable.
Strong public speaking and storytelling abilities to engage guests and provide memorable experiences.
Enthusiastic about conservation, eco-tourism, and sustainable travel practices.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and across diverse terrains.
First aid and emergency response skills (preferred).
A passion for wildlife and environmental education.
4. Minimum Qualifications
A diploma or degree in Wildlife Conservation, Tourism, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience as a safari guide or in a similar outdoor leadership role.
Certification in wildlife guiding (preferred).
First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and bird species is an advantage.
