1. Job Description

The Digital Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting Base Camp’s online marketing efforts. This includes creating engaging content for social media platforms, assisting with email campaigns, and helping maintain the website. You will work closely with the marketing team to promote the brand’s sustainable tourism message and engage potential customers.

2. Job tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and scheduling content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).

  • Write and edit blog posts, articles, and marketing copy to support Base Camp’s brand and sustainability efforts.

  • Help manage email marketing campaigns, including creating newsletters, promotional emails, and other communications.

  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns, using analytics tools to track performance.

  • Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing marketing assets (images, graphics, videos).

  • Support SEO efforts by researching keywords and helping optimize website content.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest digital marketing trends, tools, and techniques, recommending new strategies as needed.

  • Assist with maintaining and updating Base Camp’s website with fresh content and updates.

3. Background, Skills and Experience 

  • Experience in digital marketing, social media management, or content creation.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, content scheduling tools, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights).

  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to create compelling content.

  • Basic understanding of SEO and website management.

  • Creativity and an eye for design, with experience in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) a plus.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

4. Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • At least 1 year of experience in digital marketing or social media management.

  • Proficiency in English; fluency in other languages (e.g., Swahili, French) is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of content management systems (WordPress or similar) is beneficial.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain brand consistency across all channels.
